Hammock nets - supply & installation

Deck hammock nets are supplied and installed with responsibility limited to the net itself and its correct installation. Except where directly caused by a defect in the net or our workmanship - which are covered by our Warranty Policy - no liability is accepted for injuries, falls, or other incidents occurring in or around the net after installation.

Fair use

Hammock nets are intended for lounging and relaxed use, within their stated occupancy. They are not designed for jumping, bouncing, dropping onto, or loading beyond their intended use, and must not be used as a trampoline, climbing structure, or safety net. Clients are responsible for using the net within these limits and for periodically checking the net and its fixings for wear. If anything appears worn, loose, or damaged, use should stop until it is inspected and, if needed, re-tensioned or repaired. No liability is accepted for injury or damage arising from use beyond these fair-use guidelines or from failure to maintain the installation. Use beyond these guidelines may also void the warranty - see our Warranty Policy.

Net sizing

Nets are made slightly smaller than frame dimensions so they can be pulled tight for a safe, comfortable and long-lasting fit. As a result, net installation involves some physical exertion and technical know-how - we can support by phone if necessary, but cannot be held responsible for incorrect fitting not carried out by us. All nets supplied for self-installation are produced to the same size as those we install ourselves, and thus sizing is correct.

Load, fixings & structural integrity

Our standard 10mm Hemptex rope has a break load of 1,425kg. In use, the load is carried by the complete installation - including any eye-screws/bolts, fixings, frame, and the walls, floors, posts, or structure they are anchored into. Where a net is installed onto an existing structure, we cannot take responsibility for the strength, condition, or suitability of that structure or its fixing points. Ensuring the structure is safe and adequate for the load is the client's responsibility; if unsure, clients should consult a qualified architect, structural engineer, or building professional. Any issues arising from structural or fixing failure remain the responsibility of the client.

Balustrades, height & fall protection

A hammock net is a recreational lounging surface. It is not a balustrade, guardrail, or fall-arrest system, and does not meet balustrade or fall-protection requirements under SANS 10400. Where a net is installed above a drop of 1 metre or more, compliant edge protection is required and remains the client's responsibility. Installations without compliant surrounding guarding are supplied for personal use, at the client's own risk.

Building regulations

We do not provide formal advice on building regulations, balustrade requirements, fall protection, approvals, or trip hazards. Installations may require approved building plans, and unapproved building work may need to be disclosed on sale of a property. Clients should consult a qualified architect or construction professional to ensure compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
